 | My latest design! Kusari Cuffs.
All the cuffs are made by hand by me, Darcy Horn, in my studio in southwestern Iowa. The inspiration for this design came to me on my last NYC trip to The Metropolitan Museum of Art's exhibition of Samurai armor and swords. At the time, I had already been dabbling in European and Persian chainmaille weaves. When I saw the contrast of incredible fabrics and lacquered maille utilized in Samurai armor, I was so inspired and excited by the possibilities. This is my interpretation of the work done by the Japanese craftsmen for the Samurai from the 14th to 17th centuries. Kusari cuffs are completely hand-crafted. I cut and layer the cloth, coil and cut all my own rings, and hand rivet the maille to the cloth. All cuffs can be made-to-fit (made smaller, but not larger) at no extra charge.
